The Word Forest Organisation
Our planet needs new forests, now more than ever before. They mitigate the effects of climate change & lift communities out of poverty with the commodities from the trees. The Word Forest Organisation is a registered charity that plants new forests in Kenya, builds schools in the impoverished communities that surround them & empowers the children & villagers to take care of the trees. According to the Kenya Forest Service, since 2004, the world has suffered a net loss of 37 million hectares of forest and according to data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, Africa lost 64 million hectares of forest between 1995 and 2005, showing the greatest decline on any continent during the same period. Trees. The mass deforestation of woodland and forests here is a cause for global concern and we are working hard to address it. We have been working with very capable partners in the Coast Province, Kenya to develop new nurseries, source good tree seed, train the local villagers to be good environmental caretakers and to plant and protect the trees. Classrooms. So far we have built 3 fabulous, large stone-constructed classrooms: one at Kadunguni and two at Kakuhani Primary Schools. It’s impossible to overestimate the powerful impact these safely constructed classrooms have had, not only on the students, but on the adults who use the facility after school for educational purposes too. With a little help from you, we can really up our game. Kind donations of time and money will help us create legacy change in Kenya and clean the air that blows all over the world.
